In
addition to traditional Chiropractic education, Dr.
Hughes has over two hundred hours of advanced orthopedic
training and extensive postgraduate training in physical
therapy and rehabilitative exercise techniques. He incorporates
this advanced training in the evaluation and treatment
of patients who present with injuries from automobile
collisions, participating in sports activities, work,
over doing it on the weekend and other typical musculoskeletal
conditions.
Dr. Hughes earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree
in 2000 from Life University in Atlanta, Georgia.
In January 2001 he was granted his license to treat
patients in Florida and began working in a clinic
where he met Dr. Mark Wieland. In January 2005 he
and Dr. Wieland formed a partnership and opened Advantage
Health & Wellness Center.
Dr. Hughes was born in Lafayette, Indiana and raised
in Dayton, Ohio. He returned to Indiana to attend
Purdue University, where in 1983, he earned a Bachelor
of Science degree. He spent 12 years managing restaurants
and resort hotels in Florida, Colorado and South Carolina.
He had been under Chiropractic care for occasional
low back pain since the age of 18 and in 1995 decided
to change careers and attend Chiropractic school.
Dr. Hughes has always participated in associations
related to his profession whether it was the hospitality
trade or Chiropractic. He is currently a member of
the American Chiropractic Association, Florida Chiropractic
Association and the Pinellas County Chiropractic Society.
He has served on the Pinellas County Chiropractic
Society Board of Directors since 2002 and was President
of the Society in 2006.
Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his
family, watching movies and sports, listening to music
and playing golf.
